Comparison of Imaging Techniques in the Early Diagnosis of Sacroiliitis*

چکیده
Sacroiliitis is usually the first and main feature of seronegative spondyloarthropathies. But the sacroiliac joints present a problem to the diagnostician because of their deep seated location and lack of motion. This forces us to rely heavily on imaging modalities to diagnose diseases of this joint. Therefore, many imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT); single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) bone scanning, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have been studied. In our study MRI was performed in 48 patients with clinical evidence of sacroiliitis. MRI findings were compared with those at CT and SPECT. Of these patients 35 had abnormal CT seans (73%), 36 had abnormal SPECT seans (75%), and 44 had abnormal MRI scans(91,6%). We concluded that MR imaging provide the best objective and complementary evidence of sac roiliitis in patients with clinical features of inflammatory spinal disease.

Comparison between early and delayed images of 67Ga scintigraphy for evaluation of recurrent lymphoma
Introduction: Despite widespread use of 67Gallium for lymphoma evaluation, timing of imaging after injection is a matter of controversy and to the extent of our knowledge no direct comparison has been made between early and delayed gallium images. We aimed to compare 24 and 48 hours post injection planar gallium imaging for evaluation of lymphoma recurrence. Methods: 255 pa...
متن کاملBone Single Photon Emission/Computed Tomography in the Detection of Sacroiliitis in Seronegative Spondyloarthritis: A Comparison with Magnetic Resonance Imaging
OBJECTIVE Seronegative spondyloarthritis (SpA) is characterized by chronic inflammation affecting the axial skeleton, entheses and occasionally peripheral joints. The involvement of the sacroiliac joints, sacroiliitis, is considered as a pathognomonic radiographic finding. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the method of choice for its early detection. Bone scintigraphy (BS) is characterized b...
متن کاملThe Comparison between Two Different Digital Panoramic Radiography Techniques in the Detection of Proximal Caries
Introduction: Although proximal dental caries are very common, clinical examinations cannot detect them all. Panoramic radiography has been widely used in dentistry for both diagnosis and screening. This study aimed to investigate and compare the efficacy of two digital panoramic radiography techniques in the diagnosis of proximal caries. Methods: A total number of 60 patients referred to a den...

Early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and monitoring of the disease during therapy have attracted considerable interest over the past decade. Imaging studies of seronegative spondyloarthropathies, however, are few and far between, even though these disorders occur as frequently as rheumatoid arthritis. Now the potential promise of biological therapy to treat ankylosing spondylitis, one of the...
